At the November 25th City Council meeting, the Council approved a rate increase for water, sewer, and sanitation services. This increase was necessary due to rising operational costs to the city. The new rates took effect on January 1, 2026, and apply to usage from January onward. The minimum rate increase, from $36.36 to $37.61, will be reflected on bills printed March 1. A rate schedule is included with this post that outlines the percentage increase for each service. We remain committed to keeping our utility rates among the lowest in the surrounding communities.

With the recent winter weather and extensive snowfall, all city departments are working around the clock to ensure that all public streets are safe for travel, buildings are safe for habitation, water and sewer lines are secure and residents are protected from harm. As much as we would like to be everywhere at once and provide personal service to all residents, with limited personnel and resources, this is not a possibility and we are forced to prioritize.
At this time, our street department will be unable to clear alleys and driveways. We understand that this places a burden on our residents and we greatly appreciate your cooperation as we work through this weather event together.
If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at 618-932-3262.
