Plan Commission

Mission

The West Frankfort Plan Commission is a volunteer committee appointed by the Mayor to generate new ideas and tackle various issues in the Community.  The Plan Commission developed a long range City Plan with twenty-four (24) Objectives for completion over the next ten years. It was approved by the Mayor and City Council for implementation.  

 

Projects

·         Updating old ordinances

·         Reviewing the local standards for fees and recommending adjustments

·         Creating a vacant building registry

·         Involvement in economic planning and development 

·         Implementing community improvement programs

·         Supporting other community programs 

·         Developing methods to provide for the continued growth of West Frankfort  

·         Investigating the benefits of annexation of areas outside of the present City Limits. 

 

Accomplishments

  • Recommended Home Rule - approved by the Citizens of West Frankfort in the March 2006 election. 

  • Recommended expansion of City Website - approved by the City Council.

  

Members

The Plan Commission is a 20-member body from a cross section of people in our community.

 

Meetings

Regular meetings are held at 7 P.M., the first Monday of each month at the New City Hall.   All West Frankfort citizens are cordially invited to attend these meetings.  Meeting Agenda will be posted at the City Hall 48 hours in advance of each meeting.
